Walking Tour: Join us on Wednesday, May 24th from 6-7:30pm for Memorialize the Movement’s first ever walking tour! This tour will explore some of the original mural locations that we collected from in 2020. This is a 1.5 hour tour where we will travel on foot to visit five businesses in the Uptown neighborhood. Attendees will receive a booklet with original photos of the murals as they looked when they were attached to the storefront and photos of the murals activated at community events and exhibitions over the last five years. Founder and Executive Director, Leesa Kelly, and Collections Manager, Amira McLendon, will share stories about each mural, their collection process, and what it takes to preserve murals of this scale. Registration to come soon.

Reading of KILL MOVE PARADISE: Four black males meet in a liminal space in the after-life. They are there to process the circumstances that led to their respective deaths. Written by the Pulitzer Prize winning playwright James Ijames (Fat Ham), the one-act play envisions a celestial brotherhood of slain black men offering each other solace and reconciliation, as they prepare for ascension to paradise and their new roles as spiritual guardians and saints. The reading will be done at Pillsbury House. Registration to come soon.

Paint to Express Summer Kickback: Come hang out with us before the festivities of the weekend! We'll be hosting a PTE Kickback at our HQ in South Minneapolis! Paint to Express (PTE) workshops are a free event that we host each month to provide our community with a safe space to express themselves creatively. Although all are welcome, this is a Black, Indigenous, and People of Color centered workshop, as safe spaces to express ourselves are not always available. This space is for you to show up as you are and be your authentic self. Bring a friend, enjoy the vibes, make a masterpiece!
