Community Creates Series
​Memorialize the Movement is now a resident at the Engagement Hub at the U of M! Through our year-long residency, we will be hosting our regular monthly Paint to Express workshops with a slight twist, as part of a project called Community Creates.
What is this Series?
Community Creates is a 12 month series designed to connect University of Minnesota students with local businesses, organizations, activists, organizers, and storytellers. Understanding the 'why' and the 'how' behind some of your favorite local shops, organizers, and activists lends a unique perspective to students interested in working within a community after college. Memorialize the Movement (MTM) offers students a chance to hear their stories and learn from their lived experiences.
How will the Series Run?
The Community Creates series will be split into two parts; part one will involve inviting students to participate in our monthly Paint to Express (PTE) workshops hosted in collaboration with community partners. Each workshop will be held in a different location in collaboration with a small business or organization. These partners will facilitate a conversation about what it is they do for the communities they serve and why it is important to their community. The second part will be monthly PTE workshops held at the U of M campus featuring collaborations between MTM and College of Liberal Arts departments. MTM will collaborate with a different department for each month in the spring semester to facilitate workshops that are fun, engaging, and educational for students and faculty.
